New Book Collections

Thanks to the Chalk Cliff Trust we have been able to put together two themed Book Collections available for schools to borrow. The themes were identified by teachers locally as those they would like support with to explore in the classroom.

Powerful books to challenge stereotypes

It is common for children to have stereotyped ideas about gender and ethnicity. We find these ideas have an impact on how children play and relate to each other and in discussion about job roles.

Stereotypes also have an impact on how children view themselves and their abilities. They affect their sense of self-worth and selfesteem.

  • Do girls underrate their abilities?
  • Are boys being encouraged to develop emotional literacy?
  • Do children have positive aspirations about their future roles?
