18 Hours is working with Care for the Carers to deliver the Photographer in Residence project, a photography project to help carers explore their caring role and share their experiences of caring with the wider public.
In November 2019, three pilot workshops were delivered to engage carers in an informative, experiential, three hour ‘taster’ photography workshop.
Funding was secured for a series of further face-to-face workshops that would culminated in an exhibition of carers’ photos at the Conquest Hospital in Hastings and the District General Hospital in Eastbourne in the summer of 2020.
The workshops were facilitated by renowned photographer John Cole, who has worked in the profession for over 30 years. His work has taken him all over the world photographing celebrities, sporting stars, and politicians. With the Photographer in Residence project he was able to explore his real passion in using photography to document ordinary people who do extraordinary things coupled with teaching and helping young photographers develop their own photographic skills and developing their own self-confidence through photography.
