Saturday 24 August, 11.30am & 1pm: Abbey Green, Battle

A duet between a man and a woman, exploring memories and interwoven narratives of surrender, disruption and the beauty of a place and its people.
Originally made at the Sura Medura residency in Sri Lanka, the work fuses ritual, dance and performance art.
Conceived, choreographed and performed by Suba Subramaniam, Sadhana Dance
With visual artist, collaborator and performer Brian Hartley.
Music by Sleepdogs
No need to book – just turn up.

Saturday 24 August, 2.30 to 5.30pm: The Stade, Hastings
With music by Simply Swing, one of the UK’s biggest live swing bands. Take part in Ballroom dance workshops with Ballroom Glamour, watch regional /national ballroom dancers and get your own dancing shoes on for a twirl or two. Dancers and watchers of all abilities welcome!

1.00 + 3.00pm: Street Dance the Maypole [30min Workshops]
An inclusive, accessible, funky and fabulously fun outdoor performance and workshop. Fusing iconic English dance with contemporary street styles creating a fresh mix of hip-hop beats and traditional folk tunes.

12.30 + 2.30pm
Step Hop House [30min performance]:
A fresh, quirky, colourful and magical collision of traditional and Hip Hop: A unique remix of Maypole, Clogging, Ceilidh, Street, House and Breakdance with a hint of African & Bollywood…. to a live soundtrack of fiddle, bass, percussion & beat boxing.

Street Dance the Maypole [Free 30min Workshops]:
With vibrant hosts and traditional style calling, we remix folk formations and traditional maypole moves with Street Dance and freestyle grooves – from the Soul Train Line to Lucky 7, Strip the Willow to the Electric Slide…around a contemporary, 12-foot maypole. Learn a funky routine to live music from our show band.
